Shortly after I first moved in with my humans we hit the road for the summer, that was 2 years ago. Living on the road for the summer is their usual routine but it was new to me. One of the places we visited was Rocky Mountain National Park. Unfortunately it isn’t a very dog friendly park, it gets 1 paw from me and I have 4 paws to give. We didn’t camp in the park, we stayed at a nice little camp on Willow Creek reservoir.
My humans said when they previously did camped in the park with their two girl Danes, Varel and K’Ehleyr, the ranger picked out a nice spot for them that the dogs would like. The ranger also told them of a dirt road they could walk on since can’t walk on any of the trails. There is a blog about their trip on a different website.
Moose and squirrel
Most of the park I had to see from the car. We did stop for lunch at a picnic area but the squirrels kept tormenting me. Can’t they see I’m bigger than they are? No respect at all.
The other animal we saw was moose, lots of moose. I’m not sure they would have any respect for me either. I had to stay in the car so I’ll never know.
Old Fall River Road
One of the days we spent on a small dirt road, Old Fall River Road, that eventually took us to the top of the mountain. My humans stopped a lot, I guess there was lots to look at it you are a human. I did get to walk along the road and climb a rock at one of the stops. We eventually made it to the top of a mountain where it was cold and wet.
Hiking outside the park
While Rocky Mountain National Park doesn’t have places dogs can hike there are lots of places outside the park. The park’s website has a list. One of the place to hike is Monarch Lake where my humans have gone before.
