So an earlier blog post about cropping Great Dane ears was titled “Don’t Cut my Ears”. Well I kind of had an accident and ended up sort of cropping my left ear.
Here is the story
I was having a great time with some new dog friends running around a field that my human’s landed their balloon in. Then some horses were let out into the field next to us. I’ve never seen horses up close so I thought I’d take a look. If you don’t already know, we Great Danes are hunting dogs. I guess my hunter genes took over and I ran towards them. Their prey genes took over and they started running away from me. I had already gone back and forth through the fence into the other field. So I did it again but this time at full Great Dane speed. If you haven’t seen me, or other Great Danes, run at full speed I have to say I can be really super fast. I guess when I dove through the fence part of my ear was cut clean off by the fence wire. After that the horses weren’t all that interesting. Now I had to go back through that evil fence again to get back to my humans who were calling for me. I eventually got up enough courage to get back on the right side. That is when the nice lady who owned all the dogs and horses saw my ear and all the blood.
I started to get lots of attention
She tried a couple times to wrap it up and eventually just wrapped my whole head, ears and all. I guess I made a bit of a mess of her, her porch and my human.
My humans were worried because it was bleeding a lot so they had to make an emergency call to a local dog doctor since none were open on Sunday. I’m not sure what she did because I became really sleepy and when I woke up I was a bit confused, scared and had this funny thing on my head. They call it a “no flap ear wrap“. I’ve been getting some funny tasting peanut butter treats as well.
I’ve been told that now I’m an official farm dog.
