My humans and I, with a couple other human friends, got to go for a short hike to a place called Horseshoe Bend in northern Arizona. I knew it was a friendly place when the nice lady at the booth gave me a cookie when we drove into the parking area. We then started walking on a sandy hill with lots of other people and a few dogs.
My humans said this place is dramatically different from when they used to visit with my predecessors, Varel and K’Ehleyr. When we got the end of the walk there was a cement platform with a railing looking down on a huge, river cut gorge called Horseshoe Bend. The platform and railing is new, my humans used to just walk up to the edge and there were never many other humans around.
My looking over the edge got some attention. One of my human friends was shoved out of the way by a stranger who wanted to take my photo. I know I’m cute and all but really, that wasn’t very nice to do to someone who gives me treats.
We spent some time walking where the edge has no railing and away from the crowds of humans
Horseshoe Bend is part of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It gets a four paw rating since it has few restrictions on where dogs like me can go.
