Did you know that not all other animals want to play with me? Hard to believe, I know. Let me tell you about one that turned out to be very rude.
My humans had been flying their balloon at a gathering in Craig, Colorado. All the balloon activities takes place in this huge park which I get to run around in sometimes. The balloon landed at one end of the park and all the humans were busy packing it up. They don’t like it when I touch the fabric so I went exploring. I found a critter that looks a little bit like me. I’m a mantle Great Dane so I’m mostly black with a white chest, nose and socks. This guy was also mostly black but his white was on his back and tail instead. I learned that this critter is called a skunk.
I tried to play my favorite game of chase and he shot me in the face with some stinky stuff from near his tail. By this time my human dad had arrived and I guess he got some of the spray too and was not happy with the entire situation. I tried to tell the skunk that we didn’t like his behavior but my human just wanted to leave the area. A local guy we hang out with was talking on his phone saying “go get the white bottle with the red cap”. I later learned what that was about when we got to his house.

Normally I ride inside our truck. For some reason my human dad and I walked to a different truck and we rode in the open truck bed. I think I will stick to the back seat, it’s more comfortable. Once we got to where we were going I was given 5 baths! (I had to use my tail to count that high) They washed me with some stuff called Nature’s Miracle and it did get rid of the yucky smell pretty well. That’s what was in the white bottle with the red cap.
When my human mom got there I ended up getting another face wash and a few more over the next few days. That skunk shot me right in the face and mouth, it didn’t taste good at all.

So for all my Great Dane friends out there… don’t mess with skunks! They don’t play nice.
