Do you walk around the pet store rating dog toys by how many minutes they will last? I’m always on a quest to find toys tough enough to stand up to a Great Dane at least for a little while. Most of what I see are 5 or 10 minute toys.
I discovered Tuffy toys a while back and bought the tiger tough ring. Once we had two Great Danes I upgraded to the tug oval. Our two girls made good use of that toy. They like to play with it first thing in the morning at the foot of our bed. It was like waking up to the sound of two Wookies having a conversation.
We have gone through a variety of these toys. As you can see they are not indestructible, they do end up like all the other toys. But it takes longer. Martok’s motivation is to remove every squeaker, once that is accomplished he moves on. The toys are rated on a 5 to 10 scale. I try to stay with the 8 and up.
Costco has the best prices on Tuffy toys that I’ve found. However they don’t always have them and the choices are limited when they do. They recently had the pig which seemed perfect for Martok since Great Danes were bred to hunt boar. Pigs are definitely his favored enemy.
